📜 Agreement to terms

Welcome to ExplorerUK Live. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to these terms and conditions. We’ve kept the language as plain as we can. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

🎯 The Short Version:

Be respectful, pay your subscription on time, don't post illegal content, and use the platform responsibly. We'll provide the best service we can, but stuff happens – especially when you're dealing with the British countryside!

💳 Subscription & Payment Terms

1. Membership

Price: £0.99 per week, charged automatically
Payment Processor: Stripe handles all payments securely
Billing Cycle: Weekly, starting from your signup date
Auto-Renewal: Your subscription automatically renews unless cancelled
Payment Methods: Credit/debit cards accepted via Stripe

2. Member access

Maps, the member dashboard (including Command Hub and other tools available to your account), and features described on our website are provided subject to an active subscription unless we expressly state otherwise for your account. You need a valid login and, where required, completed payment through Stripe.

3. Failed payments

If payment fails, we'll retry up to 3 times over 7 days
Your account will be suspended (not deleted) if payment can't be processed
Update your payment method via Stripe to reactivate
No refunds for partial weeks if subscription lapses

⚠️ Price Changes:

We reserve the right to adjust pricing with 30 days' notice via email. You can cancel before the change takes effect if you don't agree with the new price.

How to Cancel

Cancel anytime via your Stripe Customer Portal (link sent to your email)
Or email us at support@exploreruk.com
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
You'll retain access until the paid period expires

Refund Policy

General Rule: We operate a no-refund policy due to the low weekly cost (£0.99).

Exceptions:

Technical issues preventing access for more than 7 consecutive days (we'll issue a refund)
Duplicate charges (refunded immediately upon verification)
First-time signups within 7 days (one-time courtesy refund)

✅ Fair Play:

We're not trying to trap anyone. If you've got a genuine issue, email us. We're reasonable people who'd rather sort things out than argue over 99p.

📸 User Content & Contributions

Your Content

When you post pins, photos, comments, or other content on Command Hub, you agree that:

You own the content or have permission to post it
Your content is public and visible to all members
We can display, store, and moderate your content
You retain copyright, but grant us a license to use it on the platform
We may remove content that violates our policies

Prohibited Content

You MUST NOT post:

❌ Illegal content (drugs, weapons, stolen vehicles, trespassing coordinates)
❌ Pornography, obscenity, or sexually explicit material
❌ Hate speech, racism, or harassment
❌ Spam, advertisements, or commercial promotion (unless authorized)
❌ Private property coordinates marked as public lanes
❌ False TRO warnings or misinformation
❌ Copyright-infringing photos or content

AI Content Moderation

We use AI (OpenAI) to automatically detect spam, low-quality content, and policy violations. Flagged content is reviewed by humans before action is taken.

⚠️ Account Suspension:

Serious or repeated violations result in permanent account bans without refund. Don't be that person.

🚦 Acceptable Use Policy

You Agree To:

✅ Respect other members and the community
✅ Provide accurate information (especially TRO warnings)
✅ Use the platform for its intended purpose (outdoor exploration)
✅ Keep your login credentials secure
✅ Report bugs, security issues, or policy violations

You Must NOT:

❌ Share your account with others
❌ Attempt to hack, scrape, or reverse-engineer the platform
❌ Use bots or automated tools (except with written permission)
❌ Overload our servers or disrupt service for others
❌ Impersonate staff, moderators, or other users
❌ Post coordinates to private land or restricted areas

⚠️ Liability & Disclaimers

Use at Your Own Risk

CRITICAL: Green laning, off-roading, and wild camping involve inherent risks. ExplorerUK Live is an information platform — we do NOT guarantee:

Route accuracy or current conditions
That routes are legal, safe, or passable
The quality of user-submitted content
Your safety, vehicle condition, or legal compliance

⚠️ YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Verifying route legality, checking TROs, assessing weather/terrain, ensuring vehicle capability, following the Countryside Code, and complying with all UK laws. If in doubt, don't do it!

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, ExplorerUK Live shall not be liable for:

Personal injury, death, or property damage
Vehicle damage or breakdown
Fines, penalties, or legal action from trespassing or illegal activity
Loss of data, photos, or contributions
Service interruptions, bugs, or technical failures
Actions or content posted by other users

Maximum Liability: In any case, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your subscription in the last 12 months (max £51.48/year).

Our IP

The ExplorerUK Live platform, including all code, design, branding, logos, and proprietary features, is protected by UK copyright law. You may not:

Copy, reproduce, or redistribute our content
Reverse-engineer or decompile our code
Create derivative works or competing services
Use our branding without written permission

Map Data Attribution

Our map tiles are provided by OpenStreetMap contributors and licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). Route data is compiled from public sources and user contributions.

Your IP Rights

You retain full copyright to your photos, comments, and contributions. However, by posting to ExplorerUK Live, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display and distribute your content on the platform.

🌐 Service Availability

Uptime & Maintenance

We aim for 99% uptime but can't guarantee uninterrupted service
Maintenance windows may occur with or without notice
Emergency downtime may happen for security or critical updates
No compensation for temporary service disruptions

Changes to Features

We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove features at any time. We’ll notify members of major changes where practical; minor updates happen regularly without notice.

Service Termination

We hope to run ExplorerUK Live for years, but if we ever need to shut down:

We'll provide at least 30 days' notice
Paying members will receive a pro-rata refund where applicable
You'll have time to export your data (pins, photos, comments)

⚖️ Dispute Resolution & Governing Law

Informal Resolution First

If you have a problem, please email us first at support@exploreruk.com. We're reasonable people and will do our best to sort things out without lawyers getting involved.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.

Severability

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

📝 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via:

Email to all registered users
Prominent banner on the website
"Last Updated" date at the top of this page

Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the new Terms.
